Around Timika in Car

Photographing street is a huge task for some people. I am one of those people. Every where I have been, i am always drawn to photograph people and their surrounding. Since moving to Timika,Papua, I have felt the urge to go to the street and take more street photos. I had encounter some, not many, native papuan who decline every time I ask to take a picture of them. Despite many street photographer says it is easier to camouflage in the crowd to be a street photographer, I found it more interesting if the subject knows that their picture is being taken. And asking question is another problem. Having camera and a great talent to take great pictures is not enough when you are on the street. At least, that’s how I feel. Also camouflaging is not easy for me, another fact I found, because being a woman with hijab on already made me the attention center. That is another challenge to tackle.

Anyway, before those problems are solved, I am sharing some of pictures I took, while being in the car, clicking here and there. Picking pictures from the shoot was a painful work as most of them unpresentable. But I want to share some of my favorites because I do not want them to be wasted.

Also, converting them into black and white gives more feeling and on some pictures have eerie effects. There are also some reflection from the car in some pictures.
